About Headstart Therapy
Nikki Farthing MBPsS BSc (Hons).
I am a psychological therapist with significant experience of supporting individuals to promote their own mental health wellbeing. Be it to address a particular problem or concern, offer support with stress or anxiety or promote personal growth. I am able to draw from a range of therapeutic approaches in order to provide a bespoke service that is designed to suit the particular needs of my clients. My professional integrity and continuing professional development are paramount and all of my work is governed by the British Psychological Society code of ethics. Ultimately, I consider it a privilege that I can provide a therapeutic setting wherein clients are able to share their concerns and move forward. I carry full public liability and indemnity insurance.
Examples of work
Therapeutic Coach - My one to one work involves working with clients in order to identify alternative patterns of thinking and doing to enhance their mental health wellbeing. I have experience of supporting clients with eating disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic attacks, depression, bereavement and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). All clients experience a marked improvement in their emotional wellbeing. I work with a diverse client base that includes adults with autism and learning difficultes.
Mental Health Support Worker - Offering practical and emotional support to males with index offences who have learning difficulties underpinned by either autism or acquired brain injury.
Beating the Blues Programme. – This GP referral programme provided 10 sessions of cCBT (Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to clients with a wide range of support needs. Due to my caseload I was able to support a significant number of individuals to move forward.
St Anselms Catholic Grammar School for Boys - As part of the SENCO team, I assisted in the development of appropriate strategies to support young people's learning and their emotional wellbeing. Both a team and multi-agency method were used to establish a child centred approach successfully aiding educational achievements, assessment and transition.
Change Management Strategy for the Ministry of Justice – The aim of this project was to maximise business efficiency across the North West Region. This included coaching managers and staff for the appropriate attitudes and behaviours required for change. I was instrumental in delivering the training strategy which outlined the rationale for the programme in order to establish employee commitment and motivation. I also facilitated workshops to equip staff with the skills and culture to bring about the required changes to progress successfully. This involved a variety of mediums including process mapping, which is underpinned by current psychological theory and psychometric testing.
